The University of Michigan’s Bioinformatics program, under the leadership of Dr. David States, and the Michigan Center for Biological Information, under Dr. Brian Athey, are in the process of creating the Great Lakes Bioinformatics Consortium, as a regional chapter of ISCB.

We are currently sending out invitations to potential board members from the Great Lakes Region, and have temporarily appointed initial officers until the board and membership are established and can elect officers.

Anyone with a strong interest in bioinformatics is welcome to join, and all of those who attended the first annual Great Lakes Bioinformatics Retreat receive automatic membership. The dates of the 3rd Annual Great Lakes Bioinformatics Retreat will be August 16 and 17. We will hold the first board meeting of GLBC concurrent with the retreat, and will set up and announce the structure of the group at the retreat.

Officers (until elections)

President: David States, M.D., Ph.D., UM Bioinformatics

Vice President: Brian Athey, Ph.D., MCBI
